Part of the flowers that remain after the auction at FloraHolland now goes to families who can use a little extra. These are flowers that would otherwise be destroyed.

FloraHolland collaborates for this project with the Aalsmeer Food Bank. For the time being, this is a three-month trial.

In recent years, the flowers were destroyed if there was no buyer for them. This is to prevent that the flowers ended up on the market at an unattractive price outside the auction. In this way FloraHolland wanted to guarantee a stable price for the growers.

The auction now says it wants to show more social responsibility by giving the remaining flowers a better destination.
